Success Training #1 - Preparing for Your New Business

Welcome to our Train 4 Success blog. You'll want to bookmark this page and come back often. This blog is just for you!

Okay, so let's get started on Day 1. Welcome to the team! Your job today is going to be recognizing your new role as travel agent. Hire yourself for the position. Commit to being your own best employee. Remember the last time you were hired for a new job in corporate America? How did you prepare for your first day on the job? Did you buy a new outfit or uniform? Did you get a hair cut? You wanted to look your best for your new position, right? You made sure you were dressed appropriately. Realize you have a "job" to do. You are a travel agent. Your job is to develop your business. Scripture says, "Where there is no vision, the people perish." If your "vision" is to grow a genuine, successful home based travel business then do it. You have an opportunity before you, it is a valuable, respectable, and professional position. Okay, so here is where we are going to start. Today is going to be a day of preparation. Your "job"today is to go through your closet and look for your best outfits. Casual is fine, just make sure they are up-to-date and appropriate. If pieces are at the bottom of the laundry bin, pull them out. Take the time to clean out your closet and match your outfits in your closet so they can be easily found in the morning. You don't want to have to hunt for clothes to wear when it's time to get to work. Throw away your ol' "frumpy dumpy" clothes. You know which ones I mean. That ugly dress, your comfy hole-y pair of sweats. You are not going to need them for your new life. You are not going to be caught dead in them anymore! Let go of the old and make room for the new. Most people tend to get the new, but then also want to hold onto the old ways "just in case." Settle in your mind that "just in case" is not an option. Can't find anything in your closet that sings "success!"? Then, invest in a new top, or better yet an outfit or two. Make it up-to-date and stylish.

Now, for your grooming. Remember when you used to style your hair? Brush your hair, style it, or get a trim. Pamper your nails like you used to, pamper your skin with lotion, rediscover your makeup, brush AND floss your teeth, find a perfume and commit to putting on a dab everyday. You are going to feel so different. You have decided a professional home based career in travel. Every time you leave the house or answer the door, you are working. Look casually successful. Remember, dress the part, think the part, act the part, and you'll start feeling the part. As you assume the role of your new "position" as travel agent, others will start treating you as a travel agent.

Your Active Role: I saw a company which offers Travel Agent pins. I've been thinking for a while about making a button which reads, "Ask me about Travel". These ladies offer a pretty little pin for only $14.95. You can find their site at Travel Agent Bling. Order it today and start wearing it right away. Make it a part of your daily routine. Get dressed, brush your teeth, comb your hair, and pin your ID on your lapel.

Blessings,
Liza

Making Memories One Vacation at a Time

P.S. (psst! shh!...) important success tip... you must, must floss! People are too polite to tell you, but if you are not flossing as a habit, your breath may not be as fresh as it should be. I personally like Plaquers - it's floss on a stick and it takes the chore out of flossing. TRY THIS... Go ahead, do it - floss your teeth. Then, smell the floss. Does it smell fresh or does it have an odor? Remember, clean or smelly that's what others smell.

DRESS UP?!

I woke up feeling extremely depressed this morning. I felt like a failure. I recently moved to a new state with new hopes and dreams but I haven’t accomplished much. Actually, I haven’t accomplished anything. I prayed this morning and I told God how I felt, and then I began to cry. I was feeling sorry for myself. I questioned God what was his plan for my life. I was confused and down. I apologized to my husband this morning for failing him because my husband and Liza were the only ones that still believed in me but I had given up on myself.

I called Liza. I called her with the intention to resign from the Family Travel Business and maybe for some encouragement. She suggested something really strange. She said with excitement, “You know what Tennille, I have an idea. Let’s just try this out okay?”. With caution I responded with“Okaaay,” not sure what she had up her sleeve. She said “Why don’t you dress the part?” Keep in mind, I work from home. I was on the phone with my pink panda pajama’s and socks on my feet with my big toe sticking out. My first initial response in my mind was “Huh, do what?.” And just when I thought the conversation couldn’t get any stranger she suggested that not only would I be the guinea pig for this project but to “blog it” for all to see. As strange as the conversation seemed, I was really excited to start and was feeling so much better already.

Well, I stripped off my pink panda pj’s and my holey socks and jumped in the shower. I went into my closet and put on a pink ruffled shirt (I have something for pink) and my brown and pink suit. It felt a little snug. Yes, its been a while but I looked great. Then I did something I haven’t done in a while. I combed my hair. I do comb my hair almost everyday but today was different. It wasn’t in a ponytail!. I had my hair out and combed and was surprised to see how long it was. I even put on stockings. I thought about wearing heels but opted for my fuzzy brown slippers instead. Sorry Liza. Well, I looked great and guess what?, I felt great too. It actually works! I guess being successful starts with feeling successful. Speaking of success.........

I cannot leave without mentioning the lessons I have learned today. I watched Oprah today and it was really inspiring. It was about, you got it, success! The guests on her show mentioned the 3 “secret” steps to success:
1. Ask
2. Believe (take action)
3. Receive
Strange isn't it?. That secret has been out for quite some time now in the Bible. I find it great that God has been trying to teach me this for quite some time. Wow!, He has given me a chock-ful of lessons today. My day started out so dreary and now I am full of hope. I pray that my story inspires someone the way God has blessed mine. I will leave you with this lesson that I also learned from the Oprah show today, “Nothing new can come into your life unless your grateful for the things you already have!”.

Hi Tennille,

Your comment brought both chuckles and tears of joy. I feel so blessed right now! God brought us together for His purpose, in His timing.

Funny thing, I rarely (like once a year?) watch the Oprah show, but I caught it yesterday, too! I even took notes. Although they referred to "The Universe" rather than to God, Our Heavenly Father, many of the principles were Biblical (ex. gratefulness, asking, thought life).

They said something valuable yesterday that I think may be worth repeating,... "Your thoughts, feelings, and actions must be moving in the same direction."

Blessings Tennille... I'm so excited to be working with you on this!

Hugs,
Liza

You Haven’t Seen Nothing Yet!

I read a scripture today that really touched me. It was John chapter 1 verse 50. To get you up to the point that blessed me, I am sure that you are familiar with the story of Jesus calling his 12 disciples. I went to church most of my life and was very familiar with this story. But on this day Jesus saw Nathaneel and acknowledged him by telling him he had seen him under the fig tree. Nathaneel seemed surprise that Jesus knew who he was, which led him to believe that He was the Son of God and become one of His disciples. But in verse 50 it states: Jesus answered and said unto him, “Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these”...When I read that all I could say was, “Wow!” It’s like he said, you haven’t seen nothing yet!.

I recognized then and there that I haven’t even touched the surface of what God had planned for me. There is so much more for me to see! I cannot express how I felt when I read that. It’s like something inside of me changed. There is so much that God wants to show me and bless me with. All I had to do was believe in Him and the flood gates of God’s many blessings will open. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ was just the first step. There are miracles the Lord want me to witness and lives He wants to change thru me.

You might be wondering, why am I writing this if it has nothing to do with training? But it has so much to do with training. We could follow these same principles with our business. You see, we must believe. If we believe in our product and our talents the opportunities are so much greater than we can imagine. You see, believing is everything. There is so much to see, so much to accomplish, so much to gain. All we have to do is believe and do our part and the results could be endless.

I have been truly blessed today and there is so much I want to say but I will leave it for another time. No, I am not a preacher, I am just a child of God that has been truly blessed and want to pass it on to you. I now can understand the phrase that many believers say, “I don’t know about tomorrow but I know who holds my hand”. I don’t know what my future is gonna be, but I know its gonna be great!!

Hi!
I just finished reading both of Tenille's and Liza's blogs and I have to say that Tenille's testimony sounds alot like what I encountered by watching "The Secret" on line. I believe the Oprah show you are referring to was about "The Secret". The "movie" is online and you can watch it for only $4.95 or purchase it for a little more. I was very inspired, much like you, after watching this. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. My life has changed ever since I put "The Secret" into practice. Many things that I have been dreaming about have come to pass or will be. I look forward to blogging here. Thanks for the encouraging stories.
Mary
